Breeding Program Information

Below is some information on us and the dogs who are contributors to this litter. We are located about 10 miles west of Huntsville, Alabama - between Madison and Decatur.

We have done a lot of work and research on the bloodlines we breed.  We have a amassed a great deal of information on the parents, grandparent, siblings etc... back to the mid 1800's.

In the last 15 years we have spent considerable effort in identifying traits and characteristics such as health, temperament and genetics. We know that the lines do not carry a history of heart, hip, bloat or cancer in this 15 time year frame. Both sets of parents on this breeding are still alive - ages between 8 and 10 years.  The grandparents and the grt-grandparents all lived to be 10 to 12 years old.

We use Wrights Co-efficient when considering a breeding. This gives us the percentage of ancestors and traits that will be contributed to the offspring.  Of course, nature has a way of being spontaneous and all the math and science can never fully predict mother nature.  But, the method is a resource than can help a breeder produce consistency and what traits are being passed along.

About Our Contract

It covers the feeding of your Dane, the new vaccination protocols, spay/neuter and a clause that if for any reason you cannot keep the dog you will notify us so we can help in finding a good home or have the dog brought back to us.

We have a 2 year health guarantee.  We ask that you follow feeding recommendations (protein levels especially) and use care not to over inoculate your puppy in his/her first year. Dr. Dobbs has a wonderful website that covers how and when to vaccinate your puppy.  She has done some very extensive research on this subject and many breeders look to her expertise and insights on this matter.

We do fly puppies if the weather permits.

Cropping is up to you. We prefer the natural ears but have no objections to your preference.

About Our Pricing

Pricing varies on whether you want a pet or show marked dog. Also whether the puppy is sold on a limited or full AKC registration.

Merles are sold for $800.00. (limited registration only)
Harlequins start at $1500 up to $2000 for show quality.
Mantles start at $1000.00 up to $1250 for show quality.

Annie, the Dam, is a champion sired show marked mantle. She has done very well in obedience and agility.  Her best traits are her intelligence and her loyalty.  Structurally she is what breeders call "defined" or "chiseled'.  She has very nice confirmation and topline and is well balanced and muscular in her proportions.

Little John is the Sire. He is a harlequin and is out of some very old and proven (Meistersinger) bloodlines.  He does very well with children, older people and sick or injured people.  We often take him to nursing homes or rehab centers to visit people who are struggling with age or illness. His best traits are his gentleness and capacity to show affection. Genetically his line does not carry for white or piebald genes. He is a true genotype. Structurally he is impressive in size and proportions. He is very masculine with a nice chest and is square in his muzzle, lip and stop. He is 37" at the shoulder and still has a little more maturing to do.

I hope this covers any pertinent information you might want to know.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
